Welcome to Print & Play!

Every great game is shaped at the table long before it ever reaches a box.

Playtesting is not an afterthought at Stormvale Publishing—it’s a vital part of how our worlds are built. The people who take the time to print, play, question, and challenge a game are the ones who help transform a good idea into something truly memorable.

We deeply value our playtesters. Your time, insight, and honest feedback matter, and we do our best to reward that effort with things that are meaningful—early access, special content, and recognition that carries real value, not just filler or fluff.

If you’re here, you’re not just playing a game.

You’re helping shape it.

Feedback from our community is pivotal in crafting the best possible experience. Please take 3-5 minutes and let us know your thoughts!

Thank you!

What is Print & Play?

Print & Play (often shortened to PnP) is a way to experience a tabletop game using printable components instead of manufactured pieces.

You download the files, print them at home, cut or assemble what’s needed, and play using simple stand-ins like tokens, dice, or household items. It’s a practical and accessible way to explore a game’s mechanics, flow, and decision-making before final production.

Print & Play editions are especially common during development, where feedback and iteration matter most. They allow players to get hands-on with a game early—and allow designers to learn what’s working, what isn’t, and what can be improved.

No prior experience with Print & Play is required. If you can print a PDF and enjoy a tabletop game, you’re good to go.

What to Expect from this Print & Play

The Print & Play edition of The Curse of Talon Wrathmore is a fully playable early version of the game, designed to deliver the core experience while remaining flexible for refinement.

You can expect:

• Cooperative, story-driven gameplay built around tension and exploration
• Meaningful choices where risk and reward are closely tied
• Evolving board states that change as the game progresses
• Difficulty that scales through play decisions, not just randomness
• A focus on coordination, planning, and shared problem-solving

This edition is not a polished final product—and it’s not meant to be. Some elements may change, tighten, or evolve as feedback is gathered. What you’re playing is the foundation the final game will be built upon.

Your experience, observations, and suggestions directly influence where that foundation goes next.

Important Note!

This is a mostly Black and White PnP experience. The reason for this is to save our testers money on expensive color ink cartridges.

There will be a full color version at a later date. Stay Tuned!!

How to Print & Play

Print & Play is designed to be flexible and give future players a preview into what is coming and how they can help give feedback to improve the game. You don’t need to print everything to get started—and in many cases, you shouldn’t.

Some materials are best kept digital, while others need to be printed to function at the table. The goal is to make setup approachable, affordable, and easy to adjust as the game evolves.

What to Print

The following components must be printed in order to play:

  • Game board elements (including hex tiles and folding terrain pieces)

  • Hero and enemy stand-ins

  • Any trackers or reference pieces that require physical placement

These components interact directly with the table and are designed to be handled, moved, and adjusted during play.

What NOT to Print

The following materials can be read digitally on a laptop, tablet, or even a phone if needed:

  • The rulebook

  • Scenario setup instructions

  • Reference charts and clarifications

Keeping these digital prevents unnecessary printing and waste as  the game will likely be refined.

Printing Options

This early Print & Play edition is optimized for ink-friendly home printing. Black-and-white or low-color settings work perfectly well.

At a later stage in development, a full-color Print & Play edition will be released—designed to look stunning when printed and assembled. That version will be made available to those who have helped us during this early playtesting phase as a thank-you for their time, feedback, and support.

What You’ll Need to Provide

In addition to the printed components, players will need a few common household items:

  • Dice (as specified in the rules)

  • Some kind of marker for life and skill point selections. Any number of small common household objects work, ie beans, buttons, etc.

  • Pencils or pens for tracking and notes, if needed

No specialty components are required.
